Sex O'Clock

Sex O’Clock – 28% Of Men Think About Sex 288 Times A Day

New Research Shows That Men Are 3 Times More Likely Than Women To Think About Sex Every 5 Minutes.

In one of the largest studies to date, more than 21,000 members of the free online dating website Smooch.com were asked how often they thought about sex. Whilst 28% of men allowed their minds to wander every 5 minutes, only 8% of women had such active imaginations.

An additional 28% of men admitted to sexual thoughts every hour compared to just 13% of women; this means not only are men 3 times more likely than women to think about sex every 5 minutes, but twice as likely to think about it every hour.

However, whilst 92% of men think about sex on a daily basis, a third of the women surveyed thought about sex far less often. 1 in 4 women think about sex once a week whilst only 3 in 50 men have such idle minds. Furthermore, 1 in 10 women succumb to temptation just once a month compared to 1 in 50 men.

In addition, according to the statistics, as people age, thoughts of a sexual nature decrease. People aged 25-30 have the most active minds with 25% of members in that age group admitting to sexual thoughts every 5 minutes, whilst 43% of those aged 61+ thought about sex every few hours.

Smooch surveys are extremely detailed, incorporating information about the respondents as detailed as height, weight and education, allowing us to uncover the following unusual facts:

  • Sex and marriage do not go hand in hand, only 14% of those in search of marriage thought about sex every hour.
  • People with the star sign Aries were the most likely (26%) to think about sex every 5 minutes whilst Gemini was the most prudish star sign.
  • Kingston is the horniest city in the UK with 45% of the inhabitants thinking about sex every 5 minutes. In contrast, the population of Redbridge rarely indulge their saucy side and are the most likely (17%) to think about sex just once a month.
  • Everyone knows smoking is bad for your health, but it clearly works wonders for the libido. Heavy smokers were more likely (24%) than non-smokers to think about sex every 5 minutes.
  • Who says money can’t buy happiness? For 31% of high wage earners happiness is just 5 minutes away, whilst those with a low range salary were the least likely to think about sex every 5 minutes.

Research:
Smooch.com polled 21,159 members over a 5 day period. Members responses remain anonymous, however, detailed statistics such as age, height, weight, build, attractiveness, hair colour, hair style, facial hair, drinking and smoking habits, education, salary and even star sign are readily available on request.

All Good Men Come With Big Packages

3 in 5 Men Underestimate The Importance Of Size

Does size matter? A basic Google search will give you over 70,000,000 possible sources to solve the debate, but a recent survey by Smooch.com shows that 64% of men underestimate the importance of size.

Over 4,000 members of the free online dating website Smooch.com were asked whether size really mattered. The data highlighted that 25% more women than men believed that size does matter.

Whilst 50% of those looking for marriage and 47% of those looking or romance said that size did matter, those looking for ‘fun’ were the least concerned (40%) by the size.

Intriguingly, the results also appear to validate the theory that men who drive around in big flashy cars are over-compensating for something else. Men with a high-range salary were the most likely (45%) to believe that size does matter.

It’s Official: Men Are B**tards! Over 40% Of Men Admit They Have Been Unfaithful

Still searching for your Mr. Darcy or Prince Charming? Sadly, a recent anonymous survey reveals that in reality men are a third more likely to be unfaithful than women.

Over 7,000 members of the free online dating website Smooch.com were asked if they had ever been unfaithful to a partner. On average, 35% of respondents said that they had been unfaithful at one point or another. However, only 29% of women have been unfaithful compared to 41% of men, which is more than a third as many men as women.

Some say that with age comes maturity and experience, however in men this translates into sexual maturity and experience rather than emotional and cognitive development. Whilst the amorous male is often pictured as young and virile, the statistics indicate that as men age, the probability of them being unfaithful gradually increases. Those aged 18-24 were 4% below the average at 31%, making this age group the least likely to have cheated on a partner. In contrast, those aged over 60 were nearly 10% above the average with 44% admitting to being unfaithful.

It would be unfair to suggest the overworked cliché that men think with their trousers rather than their brain, especially in light of the fact that highly educated men are more likely to cheat. According to the survey, more than half (54%) of those with a Masters degree have been unfaithful compared to 30% of those with no formal qualifications.

Smooch surveys are extremely detailed, incorporating information about its respondents as detailed as height, weight and education, allowing us to compile the ultimate Girl Guide to Mr. Right:

  • Tall, dark and handsome? Think again, men over 6’ are the most likely to be unfaithful (43%)
  • Swap your Prince for a Pauper as men with very high salaries are the most likely to be unfaithful (65%)
  • If you like your man with washboard abs and arms the size of your thighs then you’re begging for heartache as muscular men are the most likely to be unfaithful (47%)
  • Sadly, attractive men are also off limits. Men who considered themselves as quite attractive were the most likely to be unfaithful (41%)
  • You should also probably stop looking for guys who are good with children; men with four or more little nippers are most likely to cheat (46%)
  • Imagine the scene; your eyes meet over the bar…now back away slowly – regular drinkers are the most likely to be unfaithful (49%)
  • Never trust a bearded man (including Santa) as 85% of men with full beards admit to being unfaithful.

The only silver lining to this bombshell is the paradox that men are honest about being liars.

Research:

Smooch.com polled 7,152 members over a 12 hour period. Members responses remain anonymous, however, detailed statistics such as age, height, weight, build, attractiveness, hair colour, hair style, facial hair, drinking and smoking habits, education, salary and even star sign are readily available on request.

Fight For This Love?

by Julia 26th February 2010 05:21

Celebrity Mr and Mistress – Only 1 in 4 Singles Would ‘Fight For This Love’ Like Cheryl Cole

Research conducted by free online dating website Smooch.com reveals public opinion on Celebrity Cheats; just 26% of single men and women would stand by an unfaithful partner.

The celebrity laundrette has seen a remarkable influx of dirty laundry since the start of the New Year. Stars such as Tiger Woods, Vernon Kay, John Terry and Ashley Cole have all played their role in the world of Celebrity Mr and Mistress; so Smooch set out to investigate how the public would react to a cheating partner.

Over 7,500 members were polled in 12 hours by free online dating website Smooch.com. Single men and women were asked ‘What would you do if your partner cheated?’ Whilst 26% agreed with Cheryl Cole that if it’s worth having, it’s worth fighting for, a staggering 62% would fight with a golf club like Elin Nordegren rather than fight for love.

Intriguingly, 1 in 3 men would fight for love compared to only 1 in 5 women. The results also confirm that Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned as 67% of women would reach for the nearest golf club compared to 57% of men. Whilst just 13% of women and 10% of men would cry if they discovered that their partner cheated.

The statistics also indicate that age is likely to influence a person’s reaction to an unfaithful partner. Those aged 61 and above were the most likely (36%) age group to fight to save a relationship if they discovered their partner had cheated; compared to only 24% of those aged 18-24.

14% of singles aged 18-24 would cry if their partner cheated on them, however as age increased, the tears steadily decreased to 10% of those aged 61 and above. Furthermore, violent revenge was the most popular response for those aged 31-35.

In a separate study, Smooch asked 2,000 singles about trusting a person who has previously cheated. 64% of women compared to 45% of men believed that once a cheat, always a cheat. The results also confirmed the trend that men are more forgiving than women with 1 in 3 men believing people make mistakes compared to less than 1 in 4 women.

Nevertheless, it appears men are 7 times more likely than women to follow in the footsteps of unfaithful celebrities as they believe it is only cheating if you get caught.

Additional information:

Smooch surveys are extremely detailed, incorporating information about its respondents as detailed as facial hair and weight, allowing us to unearth the following strange facts:

  • Members aged 31-35 were the least likely to fight to save their relationship, however they were the most likely to seek violent revenge as 67%.
  • Those with a very high salary were the most likely to fight for love (30%), whilst those with a low range income were the most likely to cry (15%).
  • Aquarians were the most likely star sign to fight for love; Sagittarians were the most violent towards cheaters, whilst Scorpio’s was the most likely to cry over an unfaithful partner.
  • Singles in Sheffield were the most likely to try and save a relationship after infidelity. Portsmouth is home to the most tearful singletons, whilst 77% of members in Croydon would chase their partner with a gold club.

Research:

Smooch.com polled 7,554 members over a 12 hour period for the first poll, and 2,040 members in the second survey. Members responses remain anonymous, however, detailed statistics such as age, height, weight, build, attractiveness, hair colour, hair style, facial hair, drinking and smoking habits, education, salary and even star sign are readily available on request.

The Sweat Smell Of Romance

by Julia 14th February 2010 05:01

Body Odour Is The Top Turn-Off For 43% Of Singles This Valentine's Day

Forget Perfume, Chocolates and Flowers. A new survey by Smooch.com reveals deodorant could solve your Valentine's Day Dilemma.

Love may be in the air, but there is a fine line between a musky aroma and a musty odour. In a recent study by Smooch.com, body odour beats unemployment, weight and oral hygiene to top the list of biggest turn-offs.

Free online dating website Smooch.com asked over 17,000 members what was the biggest turn-off in a potential partner; just under half (43%) of the single men and women said that body odour was the biggest turn-off when looking for love.

Singles looking for a Valentine's day smooch rated bad oral hygiene as the second biggest turn-off. 32% of members said bad oral hygiene was the biggest turn-off; this was almost double the amount of those who felt excess weight was the biggest turn-off (17%).

The fourth biggest turn-off was unemployment (6%) whilst being underweight was only problematic for 2% of members.

It seems that men are still expected to bring home the bacon as women were twice as likely as men to say unemployment was the biggest turn-off. Women were also more likely than men to say body odour and poor oral hygiene were the biggest turn off.

On the other hand, nearly a quarter of the men surveyed (24%) said that excess weight was the biggest turn-off compared to just 9% of women. However, men were also twice as likely as women to say and underweight partner was the biggest turn-off.

Additional information:
Smooch surveys are extremely detailed, incorporating information about its respondents as detailed as facial hair and weight, allowing us to unearth the following strange facts:

  • People who wear glasses are more likely than those who don’t to find body odour the biggest turn-off – possibly a heightened sense of smell compensates for impaired vision.

  • Members who were looking for marriage online were more than three times as likely to find unemployment the biggest turn-off compared to those looking for friendship.

  • Men with a pungent aroma should head towards Barnet where only 14% of women found body odour a turn-off

  • Unsurprisingly, heavy smokers were the least likely to be turned off by bad oral hygiene (28%)

  • Vegans were twice as likely as vegetarians to find an underweight partner the biggest turn-off.

Research:
Smooch.com polled 17,501 members over a three day period. Members responses remain anonymous, however, detailed statistics such as age, height, weight, build, attractiveness, hair colour, hair style, facial hair, drinking and smoking habits, education, salary and even star sign are readily available on request.

Sex and the Settee

by Julia 8th January 2010 11:57

Sex and the Settee – 18 Times More Men Go Online For Sex

A new survey by Smooch.com reveals that men are 18 times more likely than women to use dating websites for sex

It should come as no surprise that what men want couldn't be more different than what women want. Members of the free online dating website Smooch.com were asked what their main reason was for using the internet dating. 18% of men claimed that sex was their main objective, compared to only 1% of women.

Feeling flirty at thirty, or naughty at forty? You're not alone, according to the survey, respondents aged 25-30 were the most likely to go online for sex, closely followed by those aged 36-40.

Nevertheless, the majority of men and women reported to use dating websites to search for a relationship rather than friendship, dates or sex. More than half of the women surveyed (56%) said they used such websites with the hope of finding a relationship. Similarly, 42% of men polled used the site to find a long term partner.

Members of the free gay chat website ManCentral.com were also asked to define their main reason for using internet dating. Just under half of the men (45%) surveyed admitted to using dating websites for sex, more than double that of the men on Smooch. In addition, only a fifth of members of the website claimed to use online dating to find a long-term partner.

The survey was extremely detailed and revealed some intriguing, if not bizarre, facts about income, height and facial hair in relation to their motives on dating websites:

  • Women in search of a relationship should steer clear of men with beards; men with full beards were most likely (38%) to use the internet for sex. However, men with sideburns are most likely (55%) to look for a relationship online.

  • Taller people are more likely to use internet dating websites for sex, whereas shorter people are most likely to be in search of a relationship.

  • High-earners were the most likely to use internet dating for sex (42%). In contrast, low-earners were more likely to seek a relationship (57%).

Those looking for a relationship in Middlesbrough are likely to find little success in the local bar with 86% of members from Middlesbrough looking for a relationship on Smooch.com. For the more promiscuous and liberal members, look no further than Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton.

Research:

Smooch.com polled 3,744 members and ManCentral.com polled 3,236 members over a 24 hour period. Detailed statistics & breakdowns available on request. Members who answered the surveys remained anonymous to ensure an honest and accurate response.

Women Gok Wan-t a Gay Friend

by Julia 21st December 2009 11:52

Women Gok Wan-t a Gay Friend

Survey reveals the new must-have for Young, Attractive, Liberal, Educated, High-earning socialites

A new survey carried out by Smooch.com reveals that nearly 2 out of 5 people think it is important to have a Gay friend.

With the end of the 'Noughties' rapidly approaching, the rise of the gay figures on our screens in the past decade has undoubtedly had an effect on society. It would appear that the success of programmes such as How to Look Good Naked and Will and Grace has prompted a rise in 'Gayjacents'.

The results show that it was most important to the younger age categories to have a gay friend. 18-24 year olds are twice as likely to rate gay friendships 'Very Important' than those aged 41-50. Similarly those aged 25-30 are almost twice as likely to want a gay friend than those aged 36-40. This is arguably a consequence of the increasing diversity in society compared to 15 or 20 years ago. With demand for a gay friend at an all time high it is little wonder the phrase “I'm free” is rarely uttered on the streets of any gay metropolis.

With the media saturated with famous 'Gayjacents' such as Madonna, Kylie and Katie Price it is no surprise that having a gay friend was 5 time more important to women than it was to men. For anyone who finds this a somewhat alien concept I'd suggest you lend an ear to the lyrical treat that is Lily Allen's Fag Hag.

How can you spot a true Gayjacent? Well, in the morning you are most likely to spot one exploring Kensington, Brompton Road, Chelsea or Notting Hill; in fact almost anywhere in West London. By mid-day they populate the increasing number of coffee chains across London. After refreshment and an in depth discussion of the latest celebrity gossip, they move towards London's south bank towards the Gayjacent Mecca that is the Tate Modern. As night falls, what better way to end the day than with a glass of wine and the occasional cigarette somewhere in Soho.

The survey revealed that people with a high-range salary were most likely to describe gay friendships as 'Very Important' or 'Important', as were occasional smokers and those who enjoy the occasional tipple. This may be a consequence of the tireless gay social scene, or even the assimilation between gay culture and creative trend-setters.

Members of the gay dating website ManCentral.com were asked the same question in reverse 'How important is it to have straight friends?' The majority of users (39%) said that is was 'Very Important', this was closely followed by 31% of users who believed it was 'Important'. It appears that straight friends are highly important to gay and bisexual men, arguably as a means of acceptance and integration within today’s society

The survey from Smooch.com also found that:

  • People who described themselves as 'Very Attractive' were most likely to place great importance on gay friendships. Arguably they are more image and fashion conscious and require their own personal Gok Wan on hand.

  • 27% of bisexual users compared to 5% of heterosexual users said having gay friends was very important.

  • Gay friends are mostly desired in Central London, and least desired in Glasgow and Nottingham.

  • Students and Graduates were most likely to rate having gay friends as 'Very Important'

So it seems that behind every great woman is a gay.

Research:

Smooch.com polled 1,510 members and ManCentral.com polled 1,213 members over a 24 hour period. Detailed statistics & breakdowns available on request.
