Our guides cover dating advice, safety and comparisons with other dating sites. They are written to help people date well and safely, whether or not they ever use Smooch. Where Smooch comes up, we say what it costs and what it does not do, as well as what it does.
Editorial Policy: How We Write Our Guides
Updated October 2026 · By Smooch Editorial Team
Who writes our guides?
💡Guides on smooch.com are written by the Smooch Editorial Team: the people who run Smooch and look after member safety. We are a dating site, and we say so on every page.
How we research and check facts
💡Statistics come from named, linked sources such as UK Finance, the FTC and national statistics offices. Facts about other apps are checked on the date shown, and facts about Smooch come from a single fact file.
- Sources are linked. Figures cite their source at the end of the page, so you can check them.
- Dates are shown. Prices and free features of other apps change often, so we show when we checked them.
- One set of Smooch facts. Prices, countries and safety checks come from one fact file, published at Smooch at a glance, so every page says the same thing.
- Safety advice follows guidance from police and fraud bodies in each country we serve.
How we compare other dating sites
💡We compare on things a reader can check: price, what is free, how members are verified, and who each site suits. We say when a site would suit someone better than Smooch.
Comparisons are written by a competitor, so read them with that in mind. We try to make them useful anyway: we describe other apps fairly, include the free options, and link to our sources.
Smooch's owner also runs the dating review site WhichDating.com. We disclose that wherever we link to it, and those links are marked so they pass no search ranking credit.
Use of AI
💡We may use AI tools to help research and draft. Every guide is reviewed and fact-checked by a person before it is published, and we never publish invented reviews, testimonials or quotes.
Statistics, prices and safety advice are checked against their sources by a person. We do not publish customer testimonials that we cannot verify.
Updates and corrections
💡Every guide shows when it was last updated. If you spot something wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
We review our most-read guides regularly and whenever prices, laws or reporting services change. To report an error, use our contact page.
